NEW Success

Unlike most educational programs which are geared to a specific age group, NEW Success (formerly called Connect and Succeed) is for every member of the family. Parents, teens and children all participate in learning similar subject matter in a series of age-appropriate workshops.  The series are coordinated to allow for family activities and dialogue in between learning sessions helping reinforce family unity and make each family member accountable toward their shared goals. This whole family learning approach is central to NEW’s ability to help families succeed.

A Shared Learning Experience
In NEW Success, families learn how to communicate about their needs and goals and how to work as a team to enhance their mutual assets.  The shared experience of learning together helps families become stronger. NEW Success helps to change parents’ perceptions of what is possible for themselves and their children. It also helps teens and children understand how they can play an important role in preserving and enhancing the assets of their family.

Program Benefits
Families who participate in NEW Success experience positive and immediate benefits as well as long-term outcomes such as increased levels of financial independence and better high-school graduation rates for teenagers.  At the conclusion of the program, NEW Success participants have a graduation ceremony at which they receive a certificate of recognition and share their dreams for the future.  NEW’s commitment to this program is so strong that in addition to encouraging NEW residents to take advantage of NEW Success,  every NEW employee  participates in the program as well.
