The CREATE Family Conference is the culmination of NEW’s  two year effort to bring together 400 Latino families from NEW’s housing developments, to: be inspired to lead better and informed lives as economic consumers; create a family project that supports family cohesion; and, participate in a one-on-one session with a certified financial planner to establish a family financial plan. NEW acquired this property with Neighborhood Stabilization Funds and in partnership with a local  non-profit, Del Norte Neighborhood Development Corporation.  Village by the Park is a 288‐unit apartment complex located outside of Denver, Colorado in the City of Northglenn in Adams County.  The property was built in 1971 and consists of 12.2 acres with 24 separate brick buildings.   The buildings contain 142 one-bedroom units and 146-two-bedroom units with 539 parking spaces located throughout the property.  Amenities include central air and heat, dishwashers, three-pool/play areas, two laundry facilities and two exercise areas.  The property is adjacent to a large active park.  
 

From Dream to Reality

Each individual might have different circumstances leading their migration to the United States, but most immigrants have the same ambition; to make better lives for themselves and families. That was certainly the case for Ester Alvarado and Rosalina Santos, both single mothers from El Salvador. These two amazing women decided that they would pursue the American Dream of homeownership. Ester worked two jobs setting a savings goal to one day have the means to buy a home. Her mother, Rosalina, worked diligently for years, saving and following a very strict budget. Over the years their hard efforts created a nice savings for down payment and closing costs.
 
They began the home search process several years later, but they became very discouraged once they began to submit offers that were declined by sellers since they did not have greater than 20% down. They were heartbroken and quickly became disillusioned. Their dreams and hard work seem to have shattered right in front of their eyes.
