Bea Stotzer, board president of New Economics for Women, reflects on 25 years of success.

The founding mothers, successful Latinas many of whom grew up in poverty themselves, shared a radical perspective - that working parents are self-motivated and responsible and can lift their families out of poverty. That’s why over the past 25 years, NEW has not only provided over 600 safe, affordable apartments for working families in Los Angeles, but has also supported the residents of those apartments with programs designed to help them build their financial, educational and social assets.

“Sustainability” has become a very popular term in recent years.  But at NEW, it’s more than a buzzword, it’s a core value.  For over two and a half decades, NEW has been directing its efforts to achieve sustainable outcomes that will endure and have long-lasting effects.  By improving the economic well-being of our poorest families, NEW plays an important role in strengthening our whole community.
